China Unveiled World's First AI News Anchors
It seems that modern technology could be pushing the human job aside. Now a news anchor can ask should I go to the home now? Can I?
Actually not just yet that would be a little bit premature because although technology has always been a great ally to the journalists. For instance, by just sitting in a newsroom with the help of the internet they can access the whole globe just in seconds or by holding a mobile in their hands just filming every event they see. But there comes a challenge to overcome and what a coincidence that challenge is created by the same technology.
Now we have the presence of new Artificial Intelligence (AI) based news readers. Yes, it looks good but it doesn’t sound great. The makers have admitted that the plenty of work to do to make it better.
China's state news office Xinhua this week presented the most up to date robotic individuals of its newsroom: AI anchors who will report "eagerly" throughout the day consistently, from anyplace in the country.
For Xinhua's now firmly scripted and controlled state news readers, the AI anchors make things a stride further. Video of the Chinese stay rapidly spread on social media in China, with numerous watchers awed as they were frightened. "Somewhat shocking," one said, to which another reacted: "Extremely frightening."
But the thing that needs to be discussed and worth noticing is that the advancement in technology has a prime objective to facilitate human being. But, if we hand over every job to technology what else we’ll do? That will make us lethargic, lazy and getting rid of doing hard work. The second thing is that regardless of the advanced level in technology, nothing can be created as perfect as our human body and mind are. And all above, we can not challenge the nature.
